Community Involvement

“We live in the community and believe that everything is connected” says Cordelta’s Managing Director Ken Gutterson. “We don’t exist on an island. If we can help each other there are better outcomes for everyone.”

With this idea in mind, Cordelta participates in many different charity organisations and events, as well as supporting not-for-profit organisations with business services at cost.

Our participation includes:

Semi Annual Charity Lottery – In March 2014 at Cordelta’s annual company conference, delegates decided to re-focus Cordelta’s community and charity efforts into organisations where employees have direct involvement. Cordelta’s Charity Lottery was born. Every six months, Cordelta employees nominate charity or community organisations and these organisations are drawn at random to receive sponsorship from Cordelta. A selection of previously sponsored organisations is available on our Latest News.

Annual Charity Trivia Night Fundraiser – In 2014, Cordelta launched our first annual Trivia Night with proceeds going to the Doris Women’s Refuge. With that success, the Trivia Night is now an annual event, fundraising for a charity selected by Cordelta staff.

YGAP– At our 2012 Annual Conference, Cordelta and its staff pledged to support YGAP (Y Generation Against Poverty) in its 5cent fundraising initiative annually in May. Cordelta also donated business services after the event to help YGAP take the campaign national in the future. We continue to support the 5cent Campaign each May.

Burley Griffin Canoe Club 24 Hour Paddling – we participate annually to raise funds for selected organisations. Cordelta took home the corporate title in 2014.

Sports Fundraising – we encourage staff to participant in sporting events that raise funds for charity. As an active organisation we find that staff like to both participate in corporate colours as well as raise funds for a worthy cause.

CEO Sleepout – our Managing Director Ken Gutterson participated in the Canberra CEO Sleepout fundraiser for Vinnies four years running.

Contribution to Not for Profit Organisations – Cordelta has a proud history of providing services to not for profit organisations such as Lifeline at cost, donating the remainder of the usual charge.

Cordelta is committed to minimising its ecological footprint by implementing environmental best practice and the prevention of pollution in office management and general operations. We encourage our staff and contractors to behave in the same manner when situated on client sites.

To achieve this we:

  • Strive to continuously improve our environmental performance and integrate
recognised applicable best practice into our business operations.
  • Reduce our consumption of resources and improve efficiency in the use of these resources.
  • Manage waste generated from our business operations according to the principles of reduction, reuse and recycling.
  • Ensure that our business activities do not lead to any form of pollution.
  • Give due consideration to environmental issues in the leasing, layout and use of buildings.
  • Ensure environmental criteria are taken into account in the procurement of goods and services.
  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
  • Do not work with any ozone depleting or hazardous substances.

Cordelta believes that the local community is an important part of our environment and we aim to utilise local service and product suppliers wherever possible. For example we utilise the services of various local companies within the ACT region to assist us with a variety of business needs including payroll, recruitment and consulting.
