Cordelta has been featured in an article on extreme team building in the April 2013 issue of Management Today magazine. A team of 16 brave Deltoids participated in the September 2012 Tough Mudder event in Sydney. Tough Mudder bills itself as the “premier adventure challenge series in the world.”
The group was organised exclusively by employees – unlike other businesses who rely on more formal team building.
Managing Director Ken Gutterson was interviewed for the article. Here’s an excerpt:
“We find giving people freedom tends to unleash their potential. It’s surprising what people can do if you give them a chance, and a lot of companies don’t do that,” Gutterson says.
The team that did Tough Mudder came back much more enthused. They raved about team spirit, how they helped each other through the course and how they build new connections as a result.
“We have a philosophy of helping our people be more successful, but we have to understand what interests them and what they’d like to pursue,” he says.
Allowing employees to organise their own events and activities based on common interests is just one of the reasons Cordelta was number 7 on the BRW Great Places to Work list 2012.
