On the Weekend of the 17/18th of November the Burley Griffin Canoe Club (BGCC) held the annual 24 Hour Challenge to raise money for HeartKids Australia.
With approximately 100 competitors including locals from the Australian Defence Force, Fire Brigades, Government agencies, Private sector groups and social communities, the 24 hour Challenge brings people from across all States and Territories across the country together for a fun filled competition at Molongolo Reach.
Whether the competitors chose to compete in a team or solo, they’re all trying to battle it out either in or on a kayak, canoe or stand up paddle board on a 4.5km course for as many laps as possible in a 24 hour period.
For the last three years Cordelta has not only competed in the event, we have also put a lot of time, effort and funding into the sponsorship of this successful event.
Justin Channells, one of Cordelta’s Senior Executives, has continued helping the BGCC to organise and run the event as well as using his Business Unit funds to assist in the sponsorship over the past few years and will continue to do so.
Justin explains “Cordelta employees love to get a workout and help fantastic charities like HeartKids, this year the 24hr Challenge managed to raise $3,216. HeartKids do amazing work and with a few children in the Cordelta family with heart defects, the work they do has particular significance to us.”
Cordelta will continue to have a strong involvement in the 24hr Challenge with the BGCC, with membership in the club increasing amongst Cordelta and quite a few Cordelta members already putting their hands up to help organise and sponsor next year’s event.
