Earlier this year Cordelta became a Corporate Member of the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), adding a further pillar in its project management capability development strategy. Through our commitment to AIPM Corporate Membership we aim to maintain our industry relevance in skills, qualifications, knowledge and competency levels. Our membership demonstrates this commitment to our clients, our staff and future employees, which is important to building trust and confidence in our project management services.
Cordelta has sponsored the AIPM within the ACT for several years. This year, it is a Ruby Partner sponsor of the AIPM Project Management Achievement Awards (PMAA). The 2013 PMAA awards dinner will be held on the evening of Friday, September 6.
We encourage our staff to be more involved with the institute for its ability to provide support resources and services including knowledge management, professional recognition, training, governance and research, and event networking.
Involvement with AIPM supports our aim to promote and progress project management in our organisation. By supporting the AIPM we also hope to support growth and development of the Project Management profession within Australia.
Cordelta’s project management practice lead, Boyd McCarron said, “… it’s important to give back to the industry by supporting the industry peak body, as market demand for accredited project management professionals increases. We know that our clients value and trust professionals with demonstrable contemporary skills, knowledge and competency in project management. As such, the AIPM’s Registered Project Manager (RegPM) Professional certification is a defining element of quality in our practice and our service offering.”
Cordelta will embrace a wider range of the competency standards to further mature its project management capability.
Ultimately all Cordelta practicing project managers will be professionally certified. Boyd believes Cordelta’s clients value the professional accreditation because it represents reduced risk and assurance that they are working with competent professional practitioners.
AIPM has a long and respectable history in the Australian project management industry and has been instrumental in developing the profession nationally and overseas. AIPM represents in the order of 10,000 project managers, of which approximately 1,400 are in the ACT, and over 170 corporate member organisations nationally, 32 of which are located in the ACT.
Since establishment in 2004, Cordelta has continued to grow its project management capabilities at project, program and portfolio level. The company has extensive experience in private and public organisations across a variety of sectors and project types including, ICT, product development, business change and transition management. Cordelta’s project management practice aligns with industry standards and market trends. Beyond AIPM certification, Cordelta considers certification in contemporary methodologies as being equally relevant to its practice standard. Many staff are already certified in methodologies such as PRINCE2, Project, Program and Portfolio Offices (P3O) and Managing Successful Programs (MSP).
Over the past two years Cordelta has successfully undertaken more than 150 projects, which demonstrates a growing confidence in delivery capabilities and value proposition. Cordelta’s services span a range of sectors including, health, defence, finance, real estate and telecommunications.
